There's an element of uncertainty ahead as we head into the summer of 2021. This includes the way we will serve our society can incorporate the highly valued connections between people that Rotary members have experienced during previous times. Though the mantra of hands faces will certainly be part of our ongoing practice, it's evident that the confidence building is evident and more face-to-face connections are happening. However, the nature of Rotary has changed. While we are in the summer of 2021, there is a lot of uncertainty about whether our service to society will include the much-valued interpersonal connections that have been enjoyed by Rotary members in previous times. But it's clear that the hand-to-face ritual remains a part of Rotary's routine. Rotary is changing. Rotary's networks create bonds lasting. The outbreak of the pandemic was our catalyst to take on technology. In order to keep the business meetings we hold online we've reintroduced service as well as social gatherings in a environment that is a face-to-face. In order to create a new exciting future, we've taken the new possibilities and merged them with our most successful pre-pandemic behaviors. A recent Rotary survey showed that about 75% clubs were planning to continue the same business routines. Listen to this article 1. Amanda Watkin, General Secretary's column in Rotary magazine. In a Rotary survey conducted recently it was encouraging to find the fact that 75% clubs had plans for their regular events and initiatives that have previously benefited communities across Great Britain and Ireland. It's wonderful to learn that the Rotary Support Centre team is able to provide important resources to assist with the promotion and maintenance of the infrastructure. It also helps keep members and the general public safe. Compliance and insurance are equally important. The inventiveness and creativity of our members to find solutions to some of the toughest challenges is amazing and I am so grateful that the chance to join Rotary was given to me in 2002. Rotary gave me, as it has for so many other people, with a network that is a safe and dependable group of people with similar interests to whom I've formed genuine relationships over the past 20 years. We should now ask family members as well as friends to become members of this incredible network.
